Mes Amis – The Bespoke Yachting Experience Redefined

When it comes to the yacht cruise experience, comfort, safety, luxury, and the personalized feel are paramount. New Zealand-based yacht-building company Fitzroy Yachts has been delivering nothing short of this in a grand style with its line of superyachts since 1997.
One of their most elegant creations, Mes Amis, was on display at the MYBA Charter Yacht Show in Barcelona in late April, courtesy of Cecil Wright and Partners. A broker for the buying, selling, and building of yachts, the London-based outfit had recently decided to enter into the charter market, exhibiting Mes Amis at this year’s MYBA show. Since she was built in 2007, Mes Amis has gone by two other names: Artemis and Salperton. However, she was sold in 2020 and renamed Mes Amis. Having undergone an extensive refit over the winter (including a radiant new paint job and brand new sails), this 44-meter Fitzroy masterpiece sheds a whole new light on the meanings of the terms “comfort”and “luxury.”
Mes Amis comes to us as a masterful display of naval engineering with her exterior design by Dubois Naval Architects Ltd and her interior design by Adam Lay Studio. She’s the fourth largest yacht built by Fitzroy, with an aluminum hull and superstructure and a length of 39.0 meters at the waterline, a 9.34-meter beam, a draught ranging between 4.75and 7.0 meters, and a gross tonnage of 222.
However, size is not the only amazing thing about Mes Amis. She is also quite fast. Powered by a top-notchCaterpillar Inc engine and with a total onboard fuel capacity of 22,000 liters, this sailing yacht has a cruising speed of 13.0 knots and a top speed of 17 knots. She is also powered by a single propeller and controlled by two helms.
We were invited on board during the show to do a short interview and walkthrough video with the charter manager for Cecil Wright and Partners, Vanessa Buck. From the warm welcome by the professional crew to the sights onboard, it was a sublime experience. The interior of Mes Amis presents a stunning display of style and class at its finest, with its sleek and luxurious interior.
Onboard are a wide variety of accessories, toys, and games to keep guests of all ages adequately entertained. In addition to these, there are several water sports equipment for the more adventurous and daring guests. These include a complete range of inflatable water toys, paddleboards, wakeboards, and water skis. There are also two seabobs, allowing guests the thrill of underwater adventure and an up-close view of the rich variety of marine life. On the deck, near the bow, one finds a state-of-the-art relaxation area with a table, a set of small chairs, and nice and comfy sofas for family relaxation. Towards the rear of the yacht are reclining chairs where guests can sit, sip their favorite beverages and watch the sunset or sunrise.
Below the deck is a whole other world. With state-of-the-art furniture and spacious, luxurious, and well-equipped living quarters, one is assured of all the comforts of home. Mes Amis’s accommodation capacity is quite impressive. She can sleep up to ten guests comfortably with her beam master suite and three extra cabins for guests. Service onboard is rendered by a crew of five in addition to one captain, all on the ground to provide you with the most sublime of cruise sailing experiences.
Currently, Mes Amis is not for sale. Nevertheless, she is available for charter with Cecil Wright and Partners, a London-based yacht charter brokerage firm founded by Chris Cecil Wright. Chris has been in the yacht industry for 25 years now, helping clients to build, buy, sell, or charter superyachts, most dominantly engaging with Northern European builders. However, he has recently steered the firm into full charter service, with Mes Amis being their magnum opus for the year.

Mes Amis is currently available for winter charters in the Caribbean, where she is slated to show up for the Antigua charter show in December this year. She is also available on charter for summer cruises through the Mediterranean, having both Spanish and Greek licenses available.
