Interview with Dominique Roitel,
Monaco Home Collection
ParExcellence: Good morning and welcome to the Monaco Yacht Show 2024. Today, we’re joined by the CEO of Monaco Home Collection (MHC), Mr. Dominique Roitel. Thank you for having us. Your journey into the world of yachting has been an evolving one, encompassing both humanity through talented designers and uncovering untapped potential. How do you see this untapped potential translating into the yacht industry, where detail and craftsmanship are so highly valued?
Dominique Roitel: It’s a vast field for sure. To be present at the Monaco Yacht Show, you must constantly strive for something extraordinary. This year, we focused on creating something very special. Two or three years ago, we exhibited some unique furniture, but it wasn’t as "wow" as we wanted. This year, we have something truly impressive. We’re aiming to not only showcase our work but also to sell it. Our goal is to show something that has never been seen before by combining technology, knowledge, aesthetics, and, of course, comfort.
ParExcellence: MHC prides itself on offering tailor-made services for your clients. How do you collaborate with them?
Dominique Roitel: Actually, we don’t often deal directly with the clients. We work with architectural designers - very famous ones and it’s through them that we collaborate. This relationship is essential, and it's quite rare for us to meet the clients in person. We’re always working through the designer, and the process can be long, sometimes taking up to three years from the first drawing to delivery.
ParExcellence: So, you don’t directly cooperate with the clients?
Dominique Roitel: No, no, no. We always cooperate through the designer or architect.
ParExcellence: Luxury is often defined by the smallest details. What’s your commitment to achieving perfection in your designs?
Dominique Roitel: It’s a long journey. My group includes several companies, such as MHC and another company called Odiot& Co., which is 158 years old—it was started by my great-grandfather. It took us over a century to reach the level of craftsmanship we have now. Initially, we only sold from a catalogue, but over time, we began working with designers on custom projects, improving with each one. Today, we produce everything ourselves and offer solutions that are not only beautiful but also technically challenging. It's a continuous process of learning and perfecting.
ParExcellence: It sounds like craftsmanship plays a significant role in your work. How do you maintain such a high level of quality?
Dominique Roitel: It’s all about the workers. Without them, none of this would be possible. Many of our workers come from the village where the company is based, and they bring their knowledge and dedication to the job every day. It takes time for them to understand the level of precision required, but once they do, they truly excel.
ParExcellence: With your experience in business, hospitality, and residential design, how does your approach to innovative design shape your brand?
Dominique Roitel: Since we always work alongside architects and designers, our role is to transform their ideas into real objects. That’s a significant part of our job, providing technical solutions to ensure their designs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and durable. We focus on making things that will last and continue to look beautiful over time.
ParExcellence: How do you identify the right people to work with?
Dominique Roitel: They identify us! We don’t actively seek out designers; they come to us. We work with renowned designers from places like London and Paris. The quality of our work speaks for itself, and we’ve developed a reputation that attracts new projects.
ParExcellence: You mentioned earlier that sustainability is becoming increasingly important. How does MHC address sustainability challenges?
Dominique Roitel: For us, sustainability is actually quite easy. Our company is located in the middle of a forest, where my great-grandfather set it up in the 18th century. Our raw materials are sourced just two kilometers away, and everything we produce is made in France. We use recycled materials for everything, wood, leather, fabrics, even varnishes. We’ve also developed a new initiative called "Track Furniture," where each piece of furniture is given a QR code. This allows us to track its history, who made it, when it needs repairs, and other details. It’s a great way to promote sustainability by extending the life of each piece instead of discarding it.
ParExcellence: That’s impressive! You’ve also mentioned working with royal families and prestigious clients. How do you maintain such a high level of perfection?
Dominique Roitel: It’s about constant attention to detail. Every minute, we check and recheck the work because when you’re dealing with such high-value pieces, everything must be flawless. It’s challenging, but incredibly rewarding.
ParExcellence: You briefly touched on technology earlier. How is MHC incorporating technology into its craftsmanship?
Dominique Roitel: We’re beginning to pass some of our craftsmanship knowledge to robots. We have four robots in our company, and they’re learning the techniques from our experienced workers. However, it’s important to note that the robots can only replicate what they’re taught. If you give them something poorly designed, the result will be poor. You still need to have all the traditional knowledge before you can pass it on to the robots. This is something I’m very passionate about, and we’re even planning to open an academy to train the next generation of craftsmen and women.
ParExcellence: That sounds like an incredible initiative. As technology evolves, do you think robots will play a larger role in the future of your company?
Dominique Roitel: Absolutely. But while robots will become more involved, the human element will always be crucial. We’re working on finding a balance between passing on our knowledge and incorporating technological advancements.
ParExcellence: Thank you so much for your time, Mr. Roitel. It was a pleasure learning more about MHC and your vision. If your company has the right luxury strategy and you'd like to participate in an interview like this with Pirate Excellence Group, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. Thank you.

RoMaMagnificence Made Manifest
Built in 2010 in Italy by Viareggio Superyachts, this 62-meter superyacht stands as a testament to the architectural genius of the acclaimed Norwegian maritime architect Espen Oeino. RoMa is the fourth largest yacht built by Viareggio Superyachts as well as the 426th largest yacht in the world, with a 54.6-meter length at the waterline, a beam measuring 11.0 meters, a maximum draught of 5.32 meters, and a gross tonnage of about 1090. She also sports a hull of steel and an aluminum superstructure.
In terms of speed, RoMa performs splendidly. Being powered by a pair of propellers and two 2000 KW 3516B diesel engines (manufactured by the well-acclaimed Caterpillar Inc) capable of delivering up to 2682 horsepower each, she has a maximum speed of 17.0 knots and can cruise at 14.0 knots, easily 0.66 knots above the average for yachts of her class. Her fuel capacity is also impressive, as she can hold up to 158,000 liters.
In addition to these, RoMa sits as one of the world’s most technologically advanced superyachts in the 55m+ range. For starters, she is fitted with an advanced Dynamic Positioning System that enables her to float on still or rough waters without any reliance on her anchors. This affords passengers a more enjoyable cruising experience and allows the yacht access to areas where anchoring is forbidden. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art elevator makes mobility from deck to deck easier.
Of course, the lavish and ultramodern interior style of the vessel is every bit as much a marvel as the exterior, being a masterful creation of Katharina Raczek of Newcruise. The first things anyone notices when inside are the striking color palettes and sea-themed interior decor. One experiences a visual symphony of crisp white augmented by gold and deep reds. The sea-themed decor is expressed in such facets as the nautilus seashell-like paneling on the main staircase.
Finally, RoMa has a state-of-the-art swimming pool (with counter-current jets), a well-equipped gymnasium, and a recently added 16.9-meter chase boat capable of reaching 30 knots. All in all, RoMa and the yachting experience she delivers can be summed up in one word: surreal!
At the moment, RoMa is only up for charter, having last been sold in 2015, and the Northrop and Johnson group holds an exclusive global brokerage status over the yacht. She’s available for cruises to the Adriatic, the West Mediterranean, and Turkey, so if you are of a mind to embark on that cruise trip of a lifetime, you can contact any of the Northrop and Johnson charter brokers today to get more information and set up your booking. Also, as our ardent reader, if you wish to relish our partner discount, contact us or just mention PAR EXCELLENCE while you book.

Walking Tour Video, MES AMIS
When it comes to the yacht cruise experience, comfort, safety, luxury, and the personalized feel are paramount. New Zealand-based yacht-building company Fitzroy Yachts has been delivering nothing short of this in a grand style with its line of superyachts since 1997.
One of their most elegant creations, Mes Amis, was on display at the MYBA Charter Yacht Show in Barcelona in late April, courtesy of Cecil Wright and Partners.
A broker for the buying, selling, and building of yachts, the London-based outfit had recently decided to enter into the charter market, exhibiting Mes Amis at this year’s MYBA show.
Since she was built in 2007, Mes Amis has gone by two other names: Artemis and Salperton. However, she was sold in 2020 and renamed Mes Amis. Having undergone an extensive refit over the winter (including a radiant new paint job and brand new sails), this 44-meter Fitzroy masterpiece sheds a whole new light on the meanings of the terms “comfort” and “luxury.”
Mes Amis comes to us as a masterful display of naval engineering with her exterior design by Dubois Naval Architects Ltd and her interior design by Adam Lay Studio. She’s the fourth largest yacht built by Fitzroy, with an aluminum hull and superstructure and a length of 39.0 meters at the waterline, a 9.34-meter beam, a draught ranging between 4.75 and 7.0 meters, and a gross tonnage of 222.
However, size is not the only amazing thing about Mes Amis. She is also quite fast. Powered by a top-notch Caterpillar Inc engine and with a total onboard fuel capacity of 22,000 liters, this sailing yacht has a cruising speed of 13.0 knots and a top speed of 17 knots. She is also powered by a single propeller and controlled by two helms.
We were invited on board during the show to do a short interview and walk-through video with the charter manager for Cecil Wright and Partners, Vanessa Buck.
For the full article about our experience on Mes Amis please check here;

Mes Amis is currently available for winter charters in the Caribbean, where she is slated to show up for the Antigua charter show in December this year. She is also available on charter for summer cruises through the Mediterranean, having both Spanish and Greek licenses available.
If you’re interested in making your next luxury vacation a memorable one, you should absolutely try the Mes Amis. You can make a booking with Cecil Wright and Partners today by contacting the team on their Website. And finally, for the cherry on top, how would you like to cash in on our partner discount with Cecil Wright and Partners? If you would like to, then simply reach out to us before your booking, or you can mention Par Excellence to the Cecil Wright team.

The 2022 MYBA Yacht Charter Show Hits Barcelona
In late April this year, the vibrant city of Barcelona in Spain hosted the 32nd annual MYBA Charter Show.
The show, which aims to promote sustainability in the yachting industry, has been held annually for the past 20 years. It brings together brokers and agents from all over the world, providing an avenue for them to exhibit their best vessels for charter. Owing to the CoVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 shows got canceled, much to the dismay of hopeful participants.
Nevertheless, the MYBA slated this year’s edition to take place from 25th-28th of April in Marina Port Vell, Barcelona. The organizers were more than excited to meet new industry professionals, and participants were excited about the glamorous events and the showcase to come. The newly created limited-edition gold and black logo for the event captured the mood excellently.
The yacht viewings began on Monday, and they took place morning and evening each day for the next four days. Different brokers welcomed media houses and other attendees onboard their exhibitions for exclusive viewings. During this session, we were invited on board some yachts for interviews, notably Mes Amis, RoMa, Snowbird, and Curiosity. We also got to see other masterpieces like the massive 237ft Stella Maris with its exquisite exterior design and state-of-the-art interior.
There were also two very informative seminars which took place at 6:30 pm on Monday and Friday. Then, the whole event concluded with a fabulous party for the crew and sponsors. Altogether, this year’s MYBA Charter Show was a smashing success. If you wish to see more of the show or inquire about next year’s, you can check out the MYBA website.

There were also two very informative seminars which took place at 6:30 pm on Monday and Friday. Then, the whole event concluded with a fabulous party for the crew and sponsors. Altogether, this year's MYBA Charter Show was a smashing success. If you wish to see more of the show or inquire about next year's, you can check out the MYBA website.

Curiosity Elegance on the Oceans
This motor yacht comes from a period thought of as the best in spatial and architectural ideation, having been built in Italy in 1985 by the acclaimed yacht-building enterprise Cantieri Navali Nicolini Srl.
Featuring an exterior design by the famed Dubois Naval Architects and Nicolini, this yacht ranks among the top 30% in overall length. She sports a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, with a beam measuring 7.54 meters, a 3.4-meter draft, and a gross tonnage of 320. Curiosity has undergone a number of refits throughout her history, with the most recent lasting two years and ending in 2021. As a result, she has added an extra 2 meters of length to her four-deck structure, with a total of 200 square meters of exterior space available to suit guests’ needs. She is currently the third largest yacht built by Nicolini and the 1846th in the world.
After her extensive refit from 2019 to 2021, she now has a more modern open-plan layout on her exterior with the addition of a very spacious sunbathing area at the bow. More modern features on her upper deck exterior include a flexible and state-of-the-art tented gym, a seven-seater jacuzzi pool, a sushi bar, a stage-like kitchen, and a lounging area. Then, there is her main deck with an inviting alfresco dining area and now-extended swim platforms that can serve as yoga platforms as well as a water sports base.
